My Safe Florida Home
About MY SAFE FLORIDA HOME
Many people have applied to the MSFH Program because of its popularity. Although grant money is quickly allocated to different projects, there is still money available for house inspections. We work on a first-come, first-served basis, and all grants must follow the statutes set in the relevant legislature. Grant applications should be submitted when an inspection has been completed.
During the last Florida Legislative Special Session, the My Safe Florida Home Program was reinstated.
There Are Two Main Parts To The Program:
- Inspections for Wind Mitigation (between 140,000 and 145,000 first-time inspections are expected, according to the Florida Department of Financial Services). To apply for a wind mitigation home inspection, all you need to do is be the owner of a site-built, single-family residential home or townhouse. Your home’s vulnerability to wind damage may be reduced by making the improvements shown by this inspection. The State will pay for all inspections for qualified homeowners. Until all available funds have been allocated, applications will be processed in the order they were received.
- Wind Mitigation Grants (DFS expects to give between 11,000 and 12,000 grants depending on existing funds) for new house development.

For every dollar a homeowner contributes, the initiative will pay $2 in grant money. Grants for those with low incomes have doubled in size, from $5,000 to $10,000.
